The primary feature we like about the Paradise XL is
that, unlike other entrainment devices, this one produces
an approximate sign wave which the research literature
indicates is the best for entraining brainwaves.
In fact, there is published research suggesting that the
red light square wave devices commonly found in this
product category often suppress frequencies rather than
entrain them. Most of the manufacturers who develop this
type of equipment do not understand Electrophysiology
well and they apparently are not well read in the
research. They certainly do not have extensive clinical
experience with these devices or they would not be
offering the protocols that they do and making the claims
that they do.
Other features we like: This unit can be used with its
own internal battery or plugged in. We often run it off
its internal battery with just the glasses operating.
Frequency can be controlled in real time and in small
increments. It is also possible to control the frequency
of each visual field so that different hemispheres can be
entrained at different frequencies at the same time. It
also offers intensity control. This is the only unit we
have found that offers the reliability and flexibility we
require in a clinical setting.

The MiniQ is composed of a Brainmaster 2.0 and the MiniQ Switchbox. This allows the practitioner to take sequential readings at homotopic sites, a pair of sites such as C3 and C4, in sequence until twelve sites are collected. The data is automatically sent to an excel file and has coherence measures as well. Doing two minute collections at each pair of sites takes six minutes for an eyes open collection and six minutes for an eyes closed collection.

If you are just getting started in the field of NFB and unsure of how much of a commitment you want to make, the Brainmaster is easily the best unit available. If you are planning to make a full commitment then we recommend the Thought Technologies Pro Comp (costing over $5000.00). We have used both units side by side clinically and found the BrainMaster even more versatile in many ways than Pro Comp. This company constantly listens to suggestions from their users and continually updates their equipment to meet users needs. The Brainmaster software is not nearly as impressive as the Pro-Comp but it gets the job done and they are continually improving it. The 2.0 software is one of the most user friendly versions available and highly stable in a variety of software platforms.
